Northwestern College has awarded tenure and promotions to seven members of its faculty, effective this fall.

Northwestern College theatre professor Jeff Barker has published his fourth book, “Performing the Plays of the Bible: Seven Ancient Scripts and Our Journey to Return Them to the Stage.”

Northwestern College’s Drama Ministries Ensemble theatre company will perform “Iowa Ethiopia” in three area venues in February and March.

Northwestern College theatre students and productions received recognition at the Region Five Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Sioux Falls Jan. 19–25.

The musical “Bright Star” will be on stage at Northwestern College Feb. 15 and 20–22 in the England Theatre.

High school seniors interested in theatre are invited to visit Northwestern College for Theatre Raider Days Feb. 14 and 15.

Northwestern College’s Drama Ministries Ensemble theatre company will tour a production of “Iowa Ethiopia” in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Dec. 12–23.

The Northwestern College music department will present its annual Christmas Vespers concert Saturday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 8.

Community members are invited to two free events showcasing the talents of the Northwestern College theatre department.

Sioux Center resident Arlene Schuiteman, a 95-year-old former missionary nurse, and Jeff Barker, Northwestern theatre professor, have collaborated to produce the second volume in a series about Schuiteman’s life: “Iowa Ethiopia.”
