SIFE team begins microfinancing program in Nicaragua
A Northwestern Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) team is piloting a new microfinancing program in Bluefields, Nicaragua, providing opportunity to low-income entrepreneurs who have no access to regular financing.
Dr. Juyeon Kang, assistant professor of music, presented solo piano recitals at several Asian venues during spring break.

NWC grad named winner in prestigious fellowship competition
Daniel Berntson, a 2006 NWC alumnus from rural Paullina, Iowa, has been named one of two recipients of American Graduate Fellowships, which provide winners up to $50,000 a year for two years of doctoral study at one of 23 top-tier private research universities.
Professor Jamey Durham's "The Prairie Pirates" debuts at Orange City's Holland Plaza Theatre March 16-22.

SIFE project finalist in business plan competition
A Northwestern College Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) project is a finalist in the 2007 Pappajohn New Venture Business Plan Competition.
Aleisa Schat has become the third Northwestern student to be granted the prestigious Radford Fellowship at Texas Christian University.
Tom Truesdell, visiting instructor in English, is the author of an article published in the February issue of The Writing Lab Newsletter, a widely read journal in the writing center field.
Northwestern is establishing a study abroad program in Romania. The Romania Semester, which will begin offering classes in fall 2007, will be the first semester-long study abroad program operated by NWC.
A marketing publication developed for Northwestern’s admissions office has received its second award in three weeks. This time, the search piece received an Award of Merit for schools with fewer than 2,000 students in the Admissions Marketing Report’s national competition.
The 24th annual Northwestern College Gala Auction on Feb. 3, raised around $40,000, bringing the total raised through the auction to nearly $600,000.
