Professor's movie wins award for best children's film
"The Prairie Pirates," a feature-length flm written and directed by communications professor Jamey Durham, was honored as the best children’s film at the Creation Arts Festival in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Neuroscience Camp gets mention in New York Times
Northwestern's Neuroscience Camp was mentioned in a July 3 New York Times story about a summer camp. The Times article mentions several unique science-oriented camps, focusing on the Summer Explosives Camp operated by the University of Missouri-Rolla.
Bethany Kroeze, a senior business administration/management major, is getting an inside look at the world of 24-hour news through a summer internship with FOX News Channel in New York City.

Student selected for international orchestra
Josh Van Der Maaten, a Northwestern junior from Orange City, has been selected to perform in the 2007 World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) International Youth Wind Orchestra. The ensemble will play at the WASBE’s international conference in Killarney, Ireland, July 8 to 15.
Dr. Kim Jongerius, professor of mathematics, presented a paper recently at the conference of the Association of Christians in the Mathematical Sciences.
Northwestern has received a $14,400 grant from Humanities Iowa for “Minding Place,” a weeklong symposium that will take place next April, during the college’s 125th anniversary year.
