Rev. Kristin Brouwer brings ministry experience in both church and college settings as an adjunct member of the worship arts major faculty. She is a full-time member of Northwestern’s campus ministry staff, in charge of discipleship efforts designed to encourage the Christian growth of NWC students through a variety of small group and prayer ministries. In addition to her student leadership development work, she provides pastoral care, connects students with mentors, organizes spiritual retreats, builds bridges with local church and ministry efforts, and supports students in local and regional service-learning opportunities.
Rev. Brouwer is a Northwestern College graduate who earned her Master of Divinity degree from Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan. She is ordained by the Reformed Church in America and previously was on staff at Trinity Reformed Church in Orange City, where she most recently served as pastor of young adults and community engagement. She also taught Bible and history and served as the chapel chairperson for Pella (Iowa) Christian Middle School, as well as coached track, basketball and volleyball at the high school and college level.
WOR220WI - Worship Words
(4 credits) A course about artful language for faithful ministry, particularly words chosen and spoken for Christian worship. Students will analyze some of the primary uses of words within worship (biblical texts, song lyrics, prayers, faith stories, sermons, invitations, transitions, announcements, blessings) and will practice writing and speaking beautiful words.
