Heidi Vasher earned master’s degrees in curriculum and instruction and PreK-12 principal certification and degree from Dakota Wesleyan University and did additional graduate study in special education at Morningside College. Prior to coming to Northwestern, she was the director of student services/special education coordinator for the Sioux Central and Clay Central Everly school districts. She previously worked as a learning and leadership consultant and literary coach/special education consultant at the Prairie Lakes AEA in Spencer, Iowa, where she was responsible for, among other things, syllabus writing and course development. She also spent eight years as an elementary teacher in Mitchell, South Dakota. Vasher was an adjunct instructor and course design lead for many years at Buena Vista University.
