Sioux Center resident Arlene Schuiteman, a 95-year-old former missionary nurse, and Jeff Barker, Northwestern theatre professor, have collaborated to produce the second volume in a series about Schuiteman’s life: “Iowa Ethiopia.”

Students from Northwestern College and Dordt University will display their artwork in Northwestern’s Te Paske Gallery Nov. 18 through Dec. 6.

A forum on “Faith and Immigration: Getting Beyond the Rhetoric” will be held Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. in the Vogel Community Room in Northwestern College’s DeWitt Learning Commons.

The Northwestern College Symphonic Band will present a concert centered on the creation story in Genesis on Friday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel.

The Northwestern College Jazz Band and Heritage Singers will present a concert on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel.

“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” will be on stage at Northwestern College in November.

Rachel (Muilenburg) Kinsinger, a 2014 Northwestern College alumna who is a child life specialist for Seattle Children’s Hospital, is Northwestern’s nominee for the 2020 Council for Christian Colleges and Universities Young Alumni Award.

Two Northwestern music students will present a recital on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 3 p.m. in Christ Chapel. Ashlynn Anderson will present a voice recital and Hephzibah Park will perform on flute.

Northwestern College is among the recipients of a 2019 Educational Fundraising Award, an honor given to exemplary fundraising programs by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Works by Sioux City painter and muralist Mark Kochen, titled “Unspecified Mechanical Properties,” will be exhibited in Northwestern College’s Te Paske Gallery Sept. 30 through Nov. 1.
