NWC joins Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education
Northwestern has joined as a founding member the Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education, a nationwide campus-supported network that seeks to expand and extend the intellectual and theological exploration of vocation on campuses.
Northwestern’s nursing and admissions departments will host a nursing mini-camp for high school juniors and seniors interested in careers in nursing on Friday, Jan. 22.
A recording of Northwestern’s 2009 Christmas Vespers service will be aired Dec. 17 and 25 on public radio station KWIT in Sioux City.
Dr. Michael Andres and Dr. Laurie Daily have been appointed to endowed professorships.
Dr. Kimberly Utke Svanoe, professor of music emerita, was recognized at the recent Iowa Music Educators Association conference.
Directing students will present six short plays Wednesday, Dec. 9, beginning at 6 p.m., in the Allen Theatre of the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center.
Northwestern’s brass and saxophone ensembles will present a concert on Friday, Dec. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel.
Dr. Michael Andres, associate professor of religion, recently presented papers exploring holistic Christian witness.
For the second year in a row, a team of three NWC students has been chosen to compete in the world finals of a computer programming contest.

Professor wins second price in justice song contest
Dr. Heather Josselyn-Cranson, associate professor of music and director of music ministries, has won second prize in the Justice Congregational Song Contest sponsored by the Christian Reformed Church’s Office of Social Justice, Reformed Worship magazine, and the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship.
