Students to perform recital

Northwestern College senior Meghan Schuster and junior Sarah Odom will be performing at a student recital on Sunday, April 28, at 3 p.m. The event is at Christ Chapel and is free and open to the public.
Schuster, a music education major from Yankton, S.D., will play the clarinet at the recital. The student of Dr. Beverly Gibson, lecturer in music, Schuster has been awarded several music scholarships.
Schuster will play a variety of songs, including “Clarinet Concerto” by Aaron Copland, “Fantasy Pieces for Clarinet and Piano” by Robert Schumann, “Fantasie” by Philippe Gaubert and “Blue Tongue” by Barry Cockcroft. She will also play a duet, “Airheads” by Gary Schocker, with flutist Erin Van Hal.
Sarah Odom, an alto from Northwood, Iowa, will sing at the recital. She takes private lessons with Emily Lodine, lecturer in music.
Odom’s repertoire will include such works as “Ave Maria” by Johann Sebastian Bach, “If With All Your Hearts” by Felix Mendelssohn, three pieces by Gabriel Fauré, “Where the Music Comes From” by Lee Hoiby, John Duke’s “Loveliest of Trees” and “When You Wish Upon a Star” by Leigh Harline and Ned Washington.
