Rosenboom and Lesage serve STEM

Sharon Rosenboom, an instructor in mathematics at Northwestern College, and Dr. Jasper Lesage, Northwestern’s provost, are both playing roles in Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad’s STEM initiative. The initiative is designed to improve education, innovation and careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in the public and private sectors.

Rosenboom has been appointed to a three-year term on the STEM Advisory Council, a 40-member group composed of legislators, educators, business professionals, and representatives of economic and workforce development organizations. She previously served on a work group for the council that focused on the recruitment of students into STEM majors, as well as preparation programs in those areas at Iowa colleges and universities.

Lesage was tapped to serve on one of six regional STEM advisory boards, which function as an arm of the STEM Advisory Council. He is experienced in strategic planning and has a doctorate in economics.
