Author and historian to lead Minding Place workshops
Author Jim Heynen and oral historian Charles Morrissey will lead workshops on Saturday, April 5, as Northwestern hosts Minding Place, a week of place-themed events.
Northwestern College’s Symphonic Band will perform a wide variety of music at a concert on Friday, Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel.
Northwestern College’s Jazz Band will perform a variety of styles—from swing and cool to salsa and gospel—at its concert in Christ Chapel on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets to attend the NASCAR Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup races in Chicago are among the items currently available for bid online and at the NWC Alumni Association’s 25th annual Gala Auction on Feb. 23.

Theatre students honored at regional festival
Two NWC theatre seniors, Vaughn Donahue and Lindsay Westerkamp, were honored at the Region V Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, held in Omaha Jan. 20–26.
Northwestern’s public relations office won two awards in the 2008 Council for the Advancement and Support of Education District Six awards competition recently.

Fifteen NWC programs recommended by guidebook
Fifteen NWC academic programs are listed in the 2008 edition of "Rugg’s Recommendations on the Colleges," a national guidebook that recommends specific college departments to prospective students.
Arnold Carlson, NWC art professor, will conduct a performance piece in Te Paske Gallery Friday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m.
Dr. Curtiss DeYoung, a leader in the effort to transform churches into institutions that actively promote racial reconciliation, will be a guest speaker at Northwestern Feb. 4 and 5.
Senior Heidi Ackerman of Phoenix, Ariz., will present a vocal recital on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 3 p.m. in Christ Chapel.
