Northwestern to host Spectrum launch party
Wednesday, April 15, 2015
Northwestern College will host a launch party for the college’s literary arts magazine, Spectrum, on Tuesday, April 28, at 7 p.m. The free event will take place in the Te Paske Gallery.
The annual publication, sponsored by the English department, includes a selection of poetry, fiction, literary nonfiction and artwork, chosen by a panel of students.
“The event will feature the revealing of the cover design and winning authors, as well as readings from the published entries and a showing of the included artwork,” says Amber McCoy, a senior writing/rhetoric major and assistant editor of the Spectrum.
Winners from each category are determined through judging by an outside author. The judge this year was Kate Brauning, young adult author and associate editor at Entangled Publishing. Her book, “How We Fall,” was published by Merit Press in November 2014. Brauning visited Northwestern College in March as part of the Deep Song Reading Series.
