Kim Van Es, lecturer in English, along with her nine students in Methods of Teaching English and Speech, presented a breakout session on "High-interest Literary Nonfiction: A Bridge from Narrative to Informative Texts" at the Iowa Council of Teachers of English conference on Thursday, Oct. 13 in Johnston.
The presenters sought for teachers to catch a vision for how literary nonfiction can be an engaging and effective way to meet reading standards. The session focused on nine Robert F. Sibert Informational Book Award winners.
