Creative problem-solver
Reid has been fascinated by how things work since he was young. Now, as an engineering major with a mechanical engineering concentration, he looks forward to gaining the academic and experiential knowledge he’ll need in order to use his problem-solving skills. Whether he’s playing Raider football or hunting in the field, Reid loves the outdoors and dreams of using his engineering degree to create things for the outdoor sporting industry.
Improving people’s lives
Ever since I was young, I loved figuring out how things work and creating new things. As an engineer, I will have the opportunity to design, analyze and create things to solve real-world problems and optimize systems. I’ll be able to use my gift of problem-solving and my passion for creating things in ways that will be useful to people.
Christ-centered athlete
I am a part of the football team, and through that, I am involved in a weekly Fellowship of Christian Athletes Bible study. Additionally, I helped coach a flag youth football team and am part of my floor’s discipleship group (D-Group) Bible study.
Pioneering with excellence
I chose Northwestern because I liked the idea of being one of the first to go through the new engineering program. After looking at other schools, it was obvious that Northwestern did things differently and really lived up to its “Raiders Stand Out” motto. I was willing to join a new program because I knew Northwestern does everything with excellence. I wanted to be a path carver, not just another number punched through a system in a bigger engineering institution.
Faith-based learning
Northwestern is preparing me really well for my future. The classes I am taking are shaping my perspective and making me think about my relationship with the Lord in a way that I never have before. A better relationship with the Lord is the best thing someone can offer you, and at Northwestern, I’ve found that to be the main focus of our learning.
