Following their footsteps
Both of Princess’s parents are medical lab scientists, so she grew up hearing about their hepatitis research and joining them when they stopped by the lab to check on their work. A friend told her about Northwestern, and Princess liked what she learned about NWC on its website. In addition to her classes, she has been involved with a campus ministry worship team, a Spring Service Partnership short-term mission team, and the orientation staff.
Learning through research
My major has helped me learn a lot of skills through my classes and labs. I’ve gained research experience and listened to and participated in various research presentations. I also spent a summer as a professor’s research assistant, so I got to see all the behind-the-scenes work of science and bonded with some of the professors.
Faith + science
My science classes have given me the opportunity to explore the relationship between faith and science. My professors often have us do readings and then write reflections that apply theology to what we are learning. I love how much Northwestern professors care about their students and want to get to know us.
International community
I’m involved in the Intercultural Club—helping to organize and run events—through Northwestern’s Bridge Center for Intercultural Development. I love being part of a community that strives to bring people of different backgrounds and cultures together. Through I-Club, I’ve met the coolest people, eaten different and delicious cuisines, and learned so much from the many international and American students on campus.
More than a degree
At Northwestern, I’ve grown in my faith in Christ and my trust in the Lord. I’ve found a family of friends who know and love me. I have adult mentors who care about me, and I’ve discovered community with people on campus and in Orange City.
