Free to be a "geek"
A student with a true love for learning, Norah sees Northwestern’s Honors Program as an opportunity to be surrounded by students who love learning as much as she does. After spending a few weeks in Greece with fellow honors students, she has an even deeper appreciation for academia and is enjoying the strong relationships she formed on the journey. Norah is active on the Campus Ministry Team and in Red Ed Club, and she also works as an admissions ambassador, tutor, and mentor for the NEXT program, which serves students with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Shared passion
One of the things I like most about Northwestern’s Honors Program is that I am encouraged to “geek out” about the things I’m learning. When I discover something that I get very excited about, there are usually two or three other honors students who are just as excited about it as I am! This demonstrates just how much the Honors Program values learning and cultivates a supportive academic environment for all students.
Trip to Greece
One of my favorite memories from my time at Northwestern so far is visiting Greece with the Honors Program. Visiting sites and seeing artifacts that I had spent months researching was one of the greatest academic achievements of my life. I also formed great relationships with other students on the trip, along with our leader, Dr. Vonder Bruegge.
Caring connections
I LOVE Northwestern faculty! In each class I’ve taken—including my general education classes—I have felt a personal connection to my professors and known that they care deeply about me as a person. The relationships I’ve developed with NWC professors are ones I can rely on in the future.
Faith formation
At Northwestern, I’ve been encouraged to make my faith my own, and while this hasn’t been easy, I have felt supported and seen every step of the way. I love that faith is thoroughly integrated in everything I do at NWC. This has helped me to think about my relationship with God from different perspectives, allowing for personal spiritual growth.
