Best of both worlds

Lillian has big dreams for her future, and Northwestern’s social enterprise major speaks to both her passion for ministry and her entrepreneurial spirit. After graduation, she plans to open her own coffee shop or work with a church or Christian nonprofit. Lillian sings in Northwestern’s A cappella Choir, works as a teaching assistant and admissions ambassador, and leads a Discipleship Group in her dorm.

Diverse perspectives
Because the social enterprise major includes courses in both theology and business, I have loved learning how the Christian faith has developed over time and how I can apply it to business practice. My professors can even take something like our economy and teach it from a Christian perspective! Business isn’t something I ever thought could be tied to faith, but Northwestern’s business professors find so many ways to integrate faith with the business field.

Spiritual mentors
I have had tremendous spiritual growth since coming to NWC. The faculty and staff—especially the resident directors—are some of the best mentors! It is refreshing to be part of a community where people are passionate about spurring each other on in their faith walks.

Safe space
Northwestern creates such a safe space to grow—not only as students, but as people. Here I have learned how to step outside my comfort zone and strike up conversations with people, which has led to some of my closest relationships.
