Good with numbers

Gabe will graduate with a major in accounting, minors in business administration and nonprofit management, and a coaching endorsement. He plans to pursue an accounting career in either the public or private sector and eventually work with nonprofit organizations. At Northwestern he is a member of the Raider football team, an admissions student ambassador, a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) leader, a NEXT program mentor, and a tutor for the Peer Learning Center.

Student-athlete
I initially considered Northwestern because of the football program’s high level of success and culture of excellence. However, after visiting the campus several times, I quickly realized that Northwestern offers an ideal environment for holistic growth—spiritually, academically, athletically and socially.

Changing course
I began my studies at Northwestern as a business administration major, but after taking several business-related courses, I discovered a natural affinity for accounting. Before attending NWC, I knew I enjoyed working with numbers and had a keen interest in business. Accounting has allowed me to combine both passions. The help and support from professors made the transition to an accounting major smoother than I ever could have imagined. After completing a few more accounting courses, my confidence in this decision has been solidified.

Priceless profs
Northwestern’s business professors are dedicated to supporting students in everything from coursework to life beyond the classroom. The department’s diversity enables it to assist students from all backgrounds effectively. Many professors bring real-world experience to their teaching, helping us understand the practical applications of business concepts. Additionally, the personal connection that faculty build with students is something I’m particularly grateful for at Northwestern.

Growing by leading
I’ve been fortunate to hold leadership positions within the FCA at Northwestern, as well as to lead FCA small groups within the football team. Those roles have not only deepened my own faith journey, but they’ve also challenged me to support and guide my peers in their spiritual growth.
