Math whiz
Annika started her Northwestern education with one major, but she’ll graduate with two: actuarial science and finance. A business professor encouraged her to add a finance major so she could gain knowledge of banking and economics in addition to her already sharp math skills. Annika is a defender on the Raider women’s soccer team and participates in the Actuarial Science Club and Honors Program.
Profs + mentors
The business department’s greatest strength is its faculty. Professors are very intentional about developing meaningful relationships with all students. They want to know you as a person and see you grow as a student. If you’re struggling in a class, professors take the time to meet with you and explain the subject in a way that makes sense to you. It is evident how much the business department cares about its students’ success.
Smart + strong
There are so many reasons to call Northwestern home. What solidified the choice for me was the way that Northwestern intertwines top-notch academic programs with an intentional, faith-building experience. Here I am valued as a child of God and encouraged to lead a life of significance in the classroom, the dorms, on the soccer field and in my community.
Campus community
The community at Northwestern is so welcoming and genuine. Coaches are very intentional about helping you master skills as an athlete, but they also care about developing your character. Faculty invite and encourage you to attend events happening across campus, and they say “hi” whenever you cross paths with them.
Future actuary
My career goal is to become an actuary for an insurance firm. I want to continue to grow in my mathematical and financial abilities in order to help companies prepare for the unexpected.
