Garage sale raises $3,700 for hurricane relief

More than $3,700 was raised for the American Red Cross’ hurricane relief efforts at the Northwestern College all-campus garage sale on Sept. 16 and 17.

“We were pretty blown away by the amount of goods donated by students, faculty and staff. It just kept coming and coming,” says Eric Anderson, associate dean for student development. “We estimate that between 600 and 800 people came through during the sale on Friday and Saturday. We are grateful for the generosity of so many people. It was a great way for an entire community to tangibly aid those in need.”

The sale, in the Rowenhorst Student Center Mini-Gym, was coordinated by the residence life staff. “It was fun to see our team of 45 resident directors and resident assistants turn a pile of stuff into a sale in a short amount of time,” says Anderson. “It was a great team effort.”
