Northwestern's women’s soccer team is ministering in San José, Costa Rica, for 10 days in July, the third Raider team to be involved in mission projects this summer.
Under the leadership of Coach Tom Cliff, the soccer team is assisting the Nazarene Church’s Work and Witness ministry through July 22. The women are conducting youth camps and playing two of Costa Rica’s top-ranked club teams. They also are involved in construction projects at a seminary—helping build an area for medical treatments and working on student housing.
For two weeks in June, Northwestern's wrestling team ministered through Christian Outreach International in the Czech Republic. The wrestlers practiced and competed with area clubs and worked with youth at schools, after-school programs and orphanages. They also participated in a variety of service projects. This was the third time the wrestling squad went on a mission trip to the Eastern Europe nation.
The Red Raider volleyball team traveled to Brazil in May and June under the auspices of the Orphanos Foundation. The student-athletes conducted volleyball camps, scrimmaged against local teams and worked with children at Lar Batista Biblico, an orphanage. They also assisted the foundation’s evangelistic efforts.
