Students gain experience through internships

Northwestern computer science students are encouraged to put what they learn into practice through semester-long and summer internships:
  • Kyle Bahrke, a senior computer science major from Kingsley, Iowa, interned for two years with the Interstates companies in Sioux Center, Iowa. He split his time between the Harbor Group and Interstates Control Systems, Inc.
  • Kim Miller, a junior computer science major from Kalona, Iowa, will intern with Wycliffe Bible Translators at Waxhaw, N.C. this summer, where she will help develop language translation software.
  • Jon Tjeerdsma, a junior computer science major from Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, will intern this summer with the Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, Iowa. He will work with Java programming in the company’s information technology department.
