Northwestern College to host music and art festival

Northwestern College’s intercultural development office will hold its second annual Beloved Music and Arts Festival on Friday, April 26, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The event will take place on the campus green north of Zwemer Hall. In case of inclement weather, the festival will be moved to the Rowenhorst Student Center. The event and is free and open to the public.

“The Beloved Music and Arts Festival brings our community together to celebrate neighborly love through music and art,” says Rahn Franklin, director of multicultural student development at Northwestern. “We want the event to serve as an inspiration to love our neighbors in a space that functions as a tangible and festive sample of beloved community.”

The festival will include live entertainment and several games on the campus green. Food will be available for a fee. Northwestern’s annual Juried Student Art Exhibition will be on display in the college’s Te Paske Gallery in the Korver Visual Arts Center.

Entertainment will begin at 5 p.m. and will include live music, dance and spoken word performances by several Northwestern students. Guitarist and vocalist Devon Cadwell, a 2013 Northwestern alumnus, will headline the event at 6 p.m.
