Director of Romania Semester to speak during Northwestern chapel service

Dr. Dana Bates, executive director and co-founder of the New Horizons Foundation in Lupeni, Romania, and director of Northwestern College’s Romania Semester, will speak in Northwestern’s chapel service on Friday, Oct. 21, at 10:05 a.m. The session is free and open to the public.

Bates and his wife, Brandi, founded the New Horizons Foundation, a nongovernmental organization that uses adventure education and service-learning to serve the youth in post-communist Romania, in 2000. He will speak about experiential education and the work his organization does.

Bates earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy at Gordon College. He later completed a Master of Divinity degree at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a doctorate from Middlesex University in London.
