Northwestern wins two public relations awards

Two publications produced by Northwestern College’s public relations office have won silver awards in the 2016 Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District Six awards competition.

Northwestern’s case statement for the Discover: Faith and Science capital campaign was selected among only two award winners in the Case Statements/General Cultivation category, joined by the University of Kansas, which received a gold award. Northwestern’s publication shares the rationale and plans for a campaign that seeks to raise $30 million to construct a new natural and health sciences facility as well as to endow scholarships and research fellowships for science students.

Northwestern also received a silver award in the Student Recruitment Publications: Individual Publications category for its campus life brochure. The publication seeks to engage prospective students through photos and text, providing an inviting, accessible glimpse of what it’s like to be part of Northwestern’s close community. Cornell College won the gold award in that category, and Missouri State University received a bronze award.

Both publications were coordinated by Tamara Fynaardt, associate director of public relations.  Dave Malec of Stillwater, Okla., designed the case statement. Roy Trevino of Williamsburg, Iowa, designed the campus life brochure.

This is the sixth consecutive year Northwestern’s public relations office has won at least two awards from CASE District Six.

Council for Advancement and Support of Education is an association for professionals who work in alumni relations, communications, fundraising, marketing and allied areas at educational institutions.
