Northwestern accreditation team invites discussion participants

Area residents and members of the Northwestern College community are invited to participate in open forum discussions with the peer reviewers who will be on campus Nov. 9 and 10 as part of the college’s reaccreditation process with the Higher Learning Commission.
Discussions will take place on the topics of Northwestern’s mission and integrity on Nov. 9 from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.; on the topic of teaching and learning that afternoon from 2:15 to 3:15; and on the topics of resources, planning and institutional effectiveness Nov. 10 from 8 to 9 a.m. All sessions will be in the lower-level conference room of the Ramaker Center.
Members of the evaluation team who will be on campus include Dr. Henry Smith, chancellor of Indiana Wesleyan University; Dr. Laura Struve, associate professor of English at Wilmington College; and Dr. Lisa Wallace, executive director of curriculum of Kaplan University.
Northwestern has been accredited as a liberal arts college by the Higher Learning Commission since 1970. The commission, one of six accrediting agencies in the United States that provide institutional accreditation on a regional basis, accredits approximately 950 institutions of higher education in a 19-state region and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
