NWC 21st in Christian college rankings

Northwestern College is ranked in a tie for 21st out of 191 colleges in the first Faith on View Christian college rankings. The rankings are based on reputation, student success and satisfaction, faculty resources, and student selectivity of colleges that seek to be Christ-centered.

Northwestern was also ranked by Faith on View as eighth among 46 Midwestern colleges and tied for eighth among 78 small colleges (enrollment between 750 and 1,999). Other institutions in the rankings include Bethel University of Minnesota, tied for 24th nationally and ninth in the Midwest; Dordt College, tied for 36th nationally and 11th in the Midwest; Messiah College and Seattle Pacific University, both tied for 24th nationally; Biola University, tied for 31st nationally; and George Fox University, tied for 36th nationally.

Faith on View’s rankings included statistics from the U.S. News & World Report and Forbes.com rankings, national faculty salary surveys, the colleges themselves, and other educational organizations. Among the factors considered were graduation, retention and giving rates; course size, student-faculty ratio and percentage of faculty who are full time; and students’ standardized test scores and success in high school.

Northwestern’s high rating in the Faith on View Christian college rankings follows a seventh-place ranking among Midwestern colleges by U.S. News & World Report; a ranking as the nation’s sixth-best baccalaureate college by Washington Monthly; a ranking as Iowa’s fifth-best college by Forbes.com; and a fifth-place rating on the CBS MoneyWatch list of the colleges with the best professors.
