Van Es presents at English teachers' convention

Kim Van Es, instructor in English, presented "The Reality of Grammar Instruction" at the Iowa Council of Teachers of English convention in Johnston, Iowa, on Oct. 1. Her presentation revealed the results of research she conducted this year on the attitudes, beliefs and practices of teachers in regard to grammar instruction. Forty-four secondary English teachers in Northwest Area Education Agency responded to Van Es' survey with their thoughts on the best ways to teach students the conventions expected by the Iowa Core Curriculum.
