Exhibitions to feature work by senior art majors

The first show, March 12–18, will feature artwork by Amy Thvedt of Beresford, S.D. Entitled “We Meet Again,” it will reintroduce people to Thvedt through her art. The exhibition will include paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture. A reception with the artist is scheduled for Sunday, March 16, at 4 p.m. Thvedt plans to pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree after graduating from Northwestern.

Emily Sweet, a senior art and writing/rhetoric major from Prosser, Wash., will show her work March 25–31 in an exhibition entitled “found.” Her exhibit will feature mixed media, sculpture and photographs, along with some prints, paintings and ceramics. A full-length play script will also be on display. A closing reception is planned for Monday, March 31, at 7 p.m. Following graduation, Sweet plans to find work as an artist and eventually pursue graduate studies in either studio art or playwriting.

April 2–7 are the dates for Jon Woehl’s exhibition. A reception with the artist—a senior art and math major from Ankeny, Iowa—is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, at 7 p.m. Entitled “Courage, Endurance, Triumph,” Woehl’s show will primarily feature sculpture and reliefs of welded steel, hand-built clay and press-mold clay. It will also include some paintings, prints and drawings. Following graduation, Woehl plans to move to Phoenix and eventually earn a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture.

The Te Paske Gallery is located in the Thea G. Korver Visual Arts Center, on Highway 10 at 214 8th St. S.W. in Orange City. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to midnight Sunday.
