Adjunct Faculty - Math

Northwestern College’s math department seeks one or more experienced and dedicated part-time professionals to teach the following courses in its curriculum. Instructors are compensated on a per-course basis.

Introduction to Data Science (2 credits)

Builds and extends student skills in gaining insights from data with special emphasis on analysis and interpretation using R.

Data Validation (3 credits)

Builds student skills in working with large data sets from real-world research, with a focus on best practices for data-type, range, constraint, code, cross-reference, structured and textual validation. Students will work with Excel, R and SQL.

Qualifications

  • At least a master’s level education in the discipline
  • Commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring
  • Committed Christian; dedicated to the integration of faith and learning in one’s academic discipline

Application Process

To find and employ the best faculty, the department maintains an open and rolling application process designed to identify a group of the most highly qualified individuals who may be called upon to teach as the need arises. Individuals whose initial application materials indicate a potential fit with the department’s needs and Northwestern’s mission will be invited for an interview with the department and, in some cases, a classroom teaching demonstration. Upon completion of this process, successful candidates will be informed of concrete teaching needs and timetables by the department chair. While applicants are welcome to submit materials at any time, hiring decisions are generally made in September and April for the following semester.
