Embodying Justice, Kindness, & Humility: The Calling of a Christian College - Micah 6:8

When:

9:00 PM
Where:
Vogel room

Ever wondered if the pursuit of diversity undermines the Christian identity/mission of Northwestern College? You might be wondering, “why are we focusing upon the topic of “embodying justice, kindness, and humility?”

The historian, Thomas Kidd at Baylor University claims that "Christian colleges and universities may be the best educational institutions today for fostering real political diversity.” At the same time, the New York Times journalist, Nicholas Kristof (a self-identified liberal democrat), warns: "We liberals are adept at pointing out the hypocrisies of Trump, but … we champion tolerance, except for conservatives and evangelical Christians. We want to be inclusive of people who don’t look like us — so long as they think like us.” cf. “The Dangers of Echo Chambers on Campus”.

Come to the Vogel room Thursday, October 5 at 9 pm for what promises to be an exciting, illuminating, and informative discussion. We have invited a panel of diverse voices who will address questions put to them by the moderator. We will also take as many of your questions as we can (texted to the moderator). We are eager to have a discussion where people are free to ask questions about the relationship between (1) the Christian identity of the college, and (2) NWC’s commitment to diversity.

We look forward to seeing you!
