Dr. Everett Worthington Jr., professor of psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University, will address the topic of “Forgiving When It’s Hard.” Worthington’s visit to Northwestern is part of a forgiveness education program. He will speak in various classes on the theme of forgiveness during his visit.

Worthington will also give a public lecture on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m. He will speak on “How to Forgive Yourself and Others” in Vermeer Dining Room.

Worthington has written or edited over 25 books, including “A Just Forgiveness: Responsible Healing Without Excusing Injustice,” published by InterVarsity Press in 2009, and “Forgiveness and Reconciliation: Theory and Application,” published in 2006 by Brunner/Routledge, and authored more than 250 refereed papers and scholarly chapters.

Worthington has won several awards for professional teaching-research contributions and teaching/mentoring, as well as Virginia Commonwealth University’s Award of Excellence.
