Dr. Denise Martinez Adams, Called to be an Advocate

Dr. Denise Martinez Adams, interim associate dean for cultural affairs and diversity initiatives at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, will focus her chapel speech on her discipleship path in being a voice for under-represented populations. It will preview themes that will be discussed during Northwestern’s annual Day of Learning in Community, which will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 15, and be focused on “Different Together.” 

Adams received her undergraduate degree at Seattle Pacific University, where she was a multicultural senator and student body executive director of intercultural affairs. After attending medical school at Tufts University, Adams completed her residency in family medicine at the University of Iowa, where she now serves as faculty and clinician in the family medicine department as an obstetrician/gynecologist.
