Experience Scripture in a new way through biblical stories on stage, including:

Cain and Abel
Tower of Babel
Moses and Pharaoh's Daughter
Joshua and Caleb
Joshua and Achan
Eli and Samuel
David and Goliath
David and Bathsheba
Elijah and the Prophets of Baal

The plays will be performed by theatre companies from Northwestern College; Augustana College, Sioux Falls; and Western Theological Seminary, Holland, Mich.

The dramas—some of which are scripted verbatim from the Old Testament—are part of an exploration of the idea that the oldest body of theatrical literature may actually from the Hebrews rather than the Greeks. Northwestern theatre professor Jeff Barker and Dr. Thomas Boogaart, Western professor and scholar of the ancient Hebrew language and biblical literature, have been collaborating on the exploration since 2002 and will be available to answer questions about the plays and their ongoing project.

See it for yourself. The festival is FREE, but reservations are required. For more information or to make a reservation, contact Jennifer Sabo, theatre events manager, by April 2. Group reservations are welcome, and we’re happy to arrange space and refreshments for a post-performance discussion at your request.
