Visiting author Weston Cutter will present a poetry reading in the lobby of DeWitt Theatre Arts Center from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 19. A native Minnesotan, Cutter graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College and will soon complete his Master of Fine Arts degree at Virginia Tech.

Cutter's poems have been published in several literary journals, including the Mid-American Review and Passages North. His work was included in the anthology Best New Poets 2008, edited by former U.S. Poet Laureate Mark Strand. Cutter’s narrative/lyric poetry centers around domestic events such as making dinner and going to the hardware store. In writing poetry, he says he is “trying to find how these simple, daily things have bigger aspects and meanings than what we typically think they have.”

A reception will follow his reading. The event is free and open to the public.
