Directing student to present evening of one-acts

Northwestern College directing students will present 14 short plays Wednesday, Dec. 8, beginning at 6 p.m., in the Allen Theatre of the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center. Community members are invited to attend the free event and come and go between performances; start times are approximate.
The plays are produced as the student-directors’ final exam with minimal staging and peers as actors. In addition to theatre, the students’ majors also include English teaching, music and public relations.
Odysseus’ monster The Cyclops will be directed by junior Ericha Walden, Waretown, N.J., at 6 p.m.
At 6:22, senior Anna Pitney, Wausau, Wis., will direct A Hmong Folktale.
At 6:45, senior Samantha Schouweiler, Rosemount, Minn., will direct Poof!
Dare will take the stage at 7 p.m. under the direction of junior Wincy Ho, Hong Kong.
Junior Daniel Cole, Dove Creek, Colo., will direct Variations on the Death of Trotsky at 7:21.
Amicable Parting is on stage at 7:39. The action will be directed by senior Greta Hays, Chicago.
Why People Cry While They Chop Onions will be directed by junior Sara Chipman, Burt, Iowa, at 7:59.
Following an intermission, senior Aleah Stenberg, Big Lake, Minn., will direct Words, Words, Words at 8:30.
At 8:49, junior Kristen Trease, Orchard, Neb., will direct For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf.
The Old Red Car will take the stage at 9:11 under the direction of senior Huiyu Lin, Taiwan.
Senior Yuika Ida, Japan, will direct Lady Han (Hanjo) at 9:42.
The Man Who Couldn’t Dance is on stage at 9:59, directed by senior Daniel Laird, Orange City.
Sure Thing will be directed by junior Daniel Sikkema, Hospers, at 10:21.
Sophomore Kylie Steinbach, Shoreview, Minn., will conclude the evening, directing Awake at 10:40.
