Bartlett to present student recital
Thursday, November 4, 2010
Northwestern College junior Anna Bartlett of Orange City will present a flute recital on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 3 p.m. in Christ Chapel. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.
Bartlett will play pieces by Howard Hanson, Henri Dutilleux, Katherine Hoover and Lowell Liebermann. She will be assisted by Lori Vande Brake, staff accompanist, on the piano.
Bartlett is not a music major, so the recital is not required for her. “The main reason I am giving this recital is because several influential people have convinced me of the joy I could give to others in doing so,” Bartlett says. “I have performed with my flute quite often, but never in this setting, with myself so much the center of attention.”
A literature major and writing/rhetoric minor, Bartlett is a member of Northwestern’s Symphonic Band and the Honors Program. She is a resident assistant in Fern Smith Hall. She currently studies flute under Sue De Haan at Northwestern and has also studied piano and violin for many years.
