Communications prof presents paper

Dayne Logan, instructor in communications at Northwestern College, recently presented a paper at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication conference in Chicago.

Logan presented “Awarding a Revolution: The Penney-Missouri Magazine Awards During Second-Wave Feminism,” as part of the History Division’s program. The paper explores the women’s movement of the 1960s and 1970s and magazines’ reactions to it via the Penney-Missouri Magazine Awards program, the only contest designed to honor American women’s magazine journalism during the period.

Logan joined the Northwestern faculty this fall after completing a master’s degree in journalism at the University of Missouri. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications at Kansas State University and served as associate managing editor of four monthly magazines in Kansas City.
