Printmaker to exhibit art

Northwestern College will display woodcut and wood engraving prints by Eric Robinson Feb. 4–22 in the Te Paske Gallery. A public reception with the Pella, Iowa, artist will open the show Friday, Feb. 4, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Entitled “a time to live and a time to die,” the exhibit features works as small as 4 inches square and as large as 8-by-4 feet. All are signed “COGu,” a reference to Robinson’s description of himself as an undeserving child of God.

Robinson holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in printmaking from Iowa State University. He attended Kirkwood Community College and graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a bachelor’s degree in painting.

His art has appeared in group shows and national juried exhibitions in Los Angeles and Omaha, as well as in the states of Iowa, New York, North Carolina and Georgia. It has also been included in printmaking exchange portfolios published by Iowa State, Oregon State and Syracuse universities, and by Simon Fraser University in Canada and the city of Derby in the United Kingdom.

Robinson conducts art workshops for the Pella Community Center and gives printmaking demonstrations for area colleges and universities. He works as a living skills adviser for adults with mental illnesses and physical disabilities at the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella, and also serves as a substitute teacher for local high schools and middle schools.

The Te Paske Gallery is located in the Thea G. Korver Visual Arts Center, on Highway 10 at 214 8th Street SW in Orange City. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to midnight Sunday.
