Wednesday, March 13, 2024
A festival celebrating the diversity of people and cultures represented on the Northwestern College campus is scheduled for Saturday, April 6, beginning at 5 p.m. The annual Beloved Festival of Culture will be held in the four-court area of the Rowenhorst Student Center.
The event is open to the public as well as to members of the NWC community. Tickets are $13 for adults and $8 for children ages 4–11. The cost includes a meal with food and beverages from countries around the world, a fashion show, several student performances and carnival activities.
“The Beloved Festival is a great way to have a culturally immersive experience,” says Kelsey Joseph, associate director of intercultural development at NWC. “Not only can you try wonderful dishes from other countries, but you also have the opportunity to meet students from all over the world and experience a bit of their culture.”
Northwestern College has international students on campus representing the following countries: Bahamas, Bahrain, Belarus, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Gambia, Germany, Ghana, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Netherlands, Nigeria, Panama, the Philippines, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Kingdom.
The Beloved Festival of Culture is a collaboration of Northwestern’s Intercultural Club and the Bridge Center for Intercultural Development.
