“We are excited to share about our spring tour experiences, both through music and words, at this concert,” says Dr. Angela Holt, assistant professor of music and director of the Symphonic Band. “Our spring tour includes a variety of audiences, so we look forward to sharing with our home audience how God is able to use the vehicle of music in all walks of life.”

Northwestern’s Symphonic Band has performed across the U.S. and internationally, and was selected as the state’s only small-college band to perform at the 2018 Iowa Bandmasters Association conference, to take place May 10 in Des Moines.

Holt joined Northwestern’s faculty last fall after serving as the associate director of wind studies and instructor at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Also the assistant conductor of the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra, she previously directed bands at the College of William and Mary in Virginia and a high school in Texas. Holt earned doctoral and master’s degrees in instrumental conducting at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a bachelor’s degree in music education from Wheaton College.
