Northwestern to host Scholarship Auction Feb. 10

Scholarship AuctionThe Northwestern College Alumni Association will host its 35th annual Scholarship Auction on Saturday, Feb. 10.

The silent auction, which includes a “buy it now” option, will begin at 9 a.m. in the gym of the Rowenhorst Student Center, with the audible auction following at 11 a.m.

Orange City’s American Legion chapter will serve a breakfast of Chris Cakes pancakes and scrambled eggs from 7:30 to 11 a.m., also in the Rowenhorst Student Center gym. Breakfast tickets, which can be purchased at the event, are $7.50 for adults, and children ages 5 and under eat free.

Some of the items up for bid include a Fire HD 10-inch tablet; tickets to see “Les Miserables” in Des Moines; a PGA guest experience with Jordan Spieth’s caddie, 2000 Northwestern College graduate Michael Greller; a Northwestern athletics T-shirt quilt; a week at Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix; Southwest Airlines tickets; a DeWalt drill kit; and a Red Raider football game-day experience. Several pieces of jewelry, gift cards, small appliances and fitness memberships are also available.

Proceeds from the auction support student scholarships at Northwestern. More than 400 people attended last year’s auction, raising $35,000 to benefit 138 Northwestern students this school year.

A printed billing of the items up for bid at this year’s Scholarship Auction will be available beginning Monday, Feb. 5, at the Rowenhorst Student Center desk, Orange City businesses and MJ’s Sinclair in Sioux Center. Items up for bid on Feb. 10 are also available for online browsing at www.nwciowa.edu/auction.
