NWC to host higher education recruitment event

Northwestern College is partnering with the Central Midwest Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) for an event on Thursday, Oct. 26, that will be focused on advancing dual-career and diversity hiring in the region. Diane Finnerty, director of Central Midwest HERC and assistant provost for faculty at the University of Iowa, will present “Building Campus/Community Partnerships for Diversity and Dual-Career Hiring: An Introduction to the Central Midwest HERC.”

The event will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the Vogel Community Room of Northwestern's DeWitt Learning Commons. Continental breakfast will be available beginning at 9.

The event will serve as an opportunity for higher education institutions and community employers to learn about the benefits of Central Midwest HERC membership. In addition, discussions will center on best practices for recruiting and retaining a highly trained, diverse workforce, including better supporting dual-career couples.

To register for the event, visit the Regional Meetings and News webpage on the Central Midwest HERC webpage or email the Central Midwest HERC coordinator, Hannah Walsh. Registration is requested by Oct. 20.

The Central Midwest HERC is a regional affiliate of the national Higher Education Recruitment Consortium, a nonprofit organization committed to connecting talented, diverse professionals with careers in higher education and business. HERC member institutions are devoted to the advancement of equity and inclusion, as well as the support of dual-career couples. The national HERC includes 18 regional chapters and more than 700 member organizations. The Central Midwest HERC represents 21 regional higher education institutions and business employers in Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska.
