Fantastic Mr. Fox on stage at Northwestern

Children’s classic “Fantastic Mr. Fox” will be presented by Northwestern College theatre Friday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 30, at 4 p.m. The play will be on stage in the Allen Theatre, where it is also being presented to schoolchildren every Tuesday and Thursday from Sept. 28 to Nov. 14.

The hourlong comedy features a thieving fox family of five under attack by three bumbling farmers: Boggis, Bunce and Bean. Mr. Fox eventually outwits the farmers, scoring enough scrumptious plunder to throw a feast for all his wild and wily friends.

“Fantastic Mr. Fox” was adapted by David Wood from a children’s novel of the same title written by Roald Dahl, who also wrote “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” The story of Mr. Fox’s capers was also adapted into a stop-motion movie by Wes Anderson in 2009.

Tickets for “Fantastic Mr. Fox” are $8 for adults and $4 for students. The shows take place during Northwestern College’s Raider Days Homecoming celebration and are free for alumni and their family members. Tickets are available starting Sept. 18 for Theatre Patrons and Sept. 19–30 for the general public.

Tickets can be reserved at www.nwciowa.edu/tickets or by visiting the DeWitt Theatre box office between 5 and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday or between 1 and 4 p.m. on Saturday. The box office can also be reached by phone, 712-707-7098, or e-mail, boxoffice@nwciowa.edu.
