Northwestern College to host Scholarship Auction

Ski slope vacation accommodations, major league baseball tickets and an Amazon Echo Dot are among the hundreds of items up for bid at the Northwestern College Alumni Association’s 34th annual Scholarship Auction on Saturday, Feb. 11.

Silent auction bidding (which includes a “buy it now” option) begins at 9 a.m. in the Rowenhorst Student Center’s gym; the audible auction begins at 11 a.m.

While visitors browse and bid, Orange City’s American Legion chapter will be serving a breakfast of scrambled eggs and Chris Cakes pancakes from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Tickets are $7.50.

Access to elite golf courses and four passes to a PGA contest—donated by pro golfer Jordan Spieth’s caddie and Northwestern alumnus Michael Greller—will be on the block. Vacation packages in northern Minnesota and Colorado are up for bid, as are tickets to area amusement parks and zoos.

Bid on a Bluetooth speaker or Fitbit fitness tracker. Treat yourself to tickets for a Twins baseball game or dinner and a show at Minnesota’s Chanhassen Dinner Theatre. Get a Starbucks gift card or gift basket of Kansas City barbeque flavors.

Auction proceeds support student scholarships and teaching excellence at Northwestern. Last year’s auction was attended by more than 500 guests and raised $32,000. More than 50 students received Alumni Association scholarships for this school year.

A complete listing of the Scholarship Auction items will be available beginning Friday, Feb. 3, at the RSC desk, Orange City businesses and MJ’s Sinclair in Sioux Center. Items up for bid on Feb. 11 are also available for online browsing at www.nwciowa.edu/auction.
