Northwestern College will host nine Preview Days this school year to provide high school students with an introduction to the college. Preview Days are open to high school juniors and seniors and their parents, and are an excellent first step for students beginning their college search. The events will be held on Oct. 3, Oct. 10, Oct. 17, Oct. 31, Nov. 10, Nov. 21, Dec. 5, March 13 and April 24.
Preview Days begin with registration at 8 a.m. and conclude by 3 p.m. Students and their parents have the opportunity to attend chapel, tour the campus, eat lunch in the cafeteria, and learn about student and academic life. They will also hear about specific academic programs, financial aid, campus ministries and co-curricular activities. Individual appointments with coaches and professors will be available. Students have the option of staying in a dorm the night before a Preview Day.
The Preview Day on Oct. 31 will be a Departmental Showcase at which students can experience a more in-depth visit with a particular academic department of their choosing. The morning will consist of several activities similar to other Preview Days, but the afternoon will be devoted to specific academic departments.
The Preview Day scheduled for Nov. 10 gives students the option of arriving on campus Sunday evening, when they can attend campus Praise & Worship and stay overnight in a residence hall.
“We love hosting high school students on campus so they can experience the Northwestern College community firsthand,” says Laura De Boer, Northwestern’s campus visit coordinator. “Our hope is that when students visit our campus, they not only gain information about Northwestern, but they can picture themselves as students here, and that we can help alleviate some of their anxieties about the college search process.”
Students who can’t visit on a Preview Day are encouraged to set up an individual visit any weekday or select Saturdays. For more information about visiting campus, contact Laura De Boer in the admissions office by calling 800-747-4757 or e-mailing visit@nwciowa.edu.
In addition, select academic departments and athletic teams offer other special interest preview days; see www.nwciowa.edu/visit for more information.
