Exhibitions to feature work by senior art majors

Three senior art majors at Northwestern College will display their work during January in the college’s Te Paske Gallery. The exhibitions are in partial fulfillment of the requirements for a bachelor’s degree in art.

The first show, Jan. 13–17, will feature artwork by Kyle De Boer, a Lynden, Wash., student with a major in graphic design and minor in business. The show will include some of his graphic design work, as well as acrylic paintings and charcoal and pencil drawings. De Boer plans to intern for a graphic design company in Chicago following his graduation from Northwestern.

Jan. 19–23 are the dates for Jason Siththideth’s exhibition of ceramics, paintings and drawings. The art major from Alta, Iowa, will host a reception on the final evening of his show: Friday, Jan. 23, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Kristin Spidahl’s exhibition Jan. 24–30 will consist of functional ceramics and portraits done as prints, oil and acrylic paintings, and charcoal and oil pastel drawings. An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 24, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. An art major and business minor from Fergus Falls, Minn., Spidahl plans to volunteer for a year after earning her degree and then pursue a career in marketing.

The Te Paske Gallery is located in the Thea G. Korver Visual Arts Center, on Highway 10 at 214 8th St. S.W. in Orange City. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to midnight Sunday.
