Seniors receive Faculty Honors

Two graduating seniors at Northwestern College received Faculty Honors at the college’s Honors Convocation on April 29. Kyle Blankers and Laura Jacobson were recognized.
The Faculty Honors award is bestowed upon graduates who excel in academic achievement, Christian influence, general attitude and participation in worthwhile campus activities. The highest honor the faculty gives to graduating seniors, it is determined by a vote of the entire faculty.
Blankers, a business education major from Sheldon, will graduate Summa Cum Laude on May 10. A member of the Sigma Tau senior honor society, Blankers was named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for 2007 and also earned NAIA track Scholar-Athlete recognition last year. An academic tutor, he has also served as an ambassador and participated in the Spring Service Project program.
Jacobson, an English and writing/rhetoric major from Galva, Iowa, will also graduate Summa Cum Laude on May 10. A member of the Sigma Tau honor society, she was selected for Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges in 2007. Editor of the Beacon student newspaper this year, she has also served as an academic tutor and an ambassador. She earned NAIA All-American honors at the 2008 national indoor track meet and has been named a Scholar-Athlete in both track and cross country.
