Tuesday, August 8, 2006
Karen Barker, professor of theatre/speech, and Dr. Joonna Trapp, associate professor of English, attended a seminar in Christian scholarship at Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Mich., July 17-28. The Northwestern faculty members were part of the seminar on "Writing as Christian Proclamation in Contemporary Contexts: The Truth's Superb Surprise."
The seminar explored how excellent writing can present central Christian themes to contemporary audiences, especially those outside of or new to the church. Participants were involved in group discussions based on the seminar's texts, small-group collaborations and individual writing projects.
