Westenberg earns doctorate

Wayne Westenberg, a member of Northwestern College’s mathematics faculty since 2001, has earned his doctoral degree.

Westenberg has completed a Doctor of Education degree from the University of South Dakota (USD). He will participate in the commencement ceremony of USD on Aug. 3. His dissertation is entitled “Relationship Between the Range of ACT Assessment Scores and Student Persistence.”

Westenberg teaches the methods courses for Northwestern’s mathematics teaching major, as well as statistics, algebra and calculus classes. He also serves as an adviser to freshman students who are undecided about a major.

A graduate of Northwestern College, he holds a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of South Dakota. He previously taught and coached at Unity Christian High School in Orange City for 19 years.
