Two international students are among three 2006 Northwestern College graduates who received Faculty Honors at commencement ceremonies on May 13. Sneha Babu and Nicky Dutt, both Indian expatriates who now live in the Middle East, were recognized along with Kayli King of Olathe, Kan. The Faculty Honors award is bestowed upon graduates who excel in academic achievement, Christian influence, general attitude and participation in worthwhile campus activities. The highest honor the faculty gives to graduating seniors, it is determined by a vote of the entire faculty.
Babu, who now lives in Qatar, majored in accounting and business administration. The recipient of this year’s Outstanding Accounting Student Award, she graduated Summa Cum Laude. A member of the Sigma Tau senior honor society, Babu was named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for 2005. She received numerous scholarships from Northwestern, including the Phil Patton Scholarship. Babu was an academic tutor, a member of the International Club and a Spring Service Project participant.
Dutt, a theatre major, now lives in Oman. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and has been awarded an assistantship in the master’s degree theatre program at Bowling Green State University. An Honors Program graduate, she received a number of Northwestern scholarships, including the Vander Werff International Mission Scholarship. Active in theatre productions and the Drama Ministries Ensemble, Dutt also served as a science tutor, Orientation Staff member, resident assistant and International Club member. She was named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for 2005.
King, an English major, graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors. A member of the Sigma Tau senior honor society, she received the Literature Award and the Jackson Hospers Memorial Prize for fiction. King, an Honors Program graduate and Norman Vincent Peale Scholarship recipient, was named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges for 2005. She was active in Northwestern’s Spring Service Project program, news editor of the student newspaper and a member of the Juggling Club.
